Hay Days 2015
What is Hay Days and why is it so important to our industry?
Hay Days to me, reminds me of the fur traders rendezvous's held in the mid 1800's in the mid-west, and the rocky mountain regions of this country. A mountain man rendezvous was a yearly event held in the summer for American fur trappers to gather together, sell their furs, and resupply themselves for another season of trapping.
So much like the early days of the trapper our modern day folks get together to celebrate what they like the most, snowmobiling. What better time to do so, during the late summer when there is no snow. I have attended this event on and off for several years now and I have met people from all over the USA, Canada, and as far away as Europe. It seems like a small event that started out with the grass drag racing as their sole event, has grown into one of the largest snowmobile rendezvous's in the world. Hay Days is continuing to see a large growth, even though the economy seems to be going up and down lately.
The early fur trader rendezvous's would generally include recreation & entertainment, including contests, and games. Most participants had a good time, swapping tall tales and drinking. Little has changed since those days long ago. Our modern day rendezvousers still travel long distances to see what is new in the industry, to watch the drag racing, see freestyle riders on snowmobiles, dirt bikes and ATVs, off road racing, explore the swap meet, and test drive and dream.
True to their kindred spirit with those from before them, hay dayers still come here for fun, good vendor food, and the occasional beer or two. After all one does get thirsty roaming around in the hot sun checking out the sights. One thing you need to do is allow yourself enough time to see what is here at Hay Days. Do not plan to come here and see everything in one morning or one day. I was here for 3 days and missed a bunch, and I will have to come back next year just to see what I missed this year.
Usually you will see what is new in the snow industry, but this year Yamaha stole the thunder by introducing their All-New Yamaha YXZ1000R, which in my opinion is a game changer for the UTV Off-road industry. Arctic Cat made a short intro of their new snow bike, along with Fox Racing showing off some of their new product line. The big four, Ski-Doo/Polaris/Arctic Cat, and Yamaha were there in force to try and convert everyone to ride their products. If you wanted after market products for what you ride, this is the place to check it out, and there is something for everyone here.
So you have to ask your self what is Hay Days, it is pure fun in the sun, and one event that you should not miss if you love to play in the snow.
